I get the error message and can’t connect to the service. Simply, I can’t use it. Talked to the customer service, and they seem to have no clue. They tell me to install some security software to use the app, which I think is absurd. Quite frustrated and disappointed. DaumKakao, you should do better.

My connection is stable enough to write this review. I can never log on to kakaotalk on my mac. Erase & reinstall doesn’t fix the issue. What’s wrong?

The connection to kakao talk keeps getting errors, but I have a stable internet connection and other aplications like Skype and Facetime work just fine. Please, fix this issue!

I’ve been waiting for a long time to have this app on my macbook pro. It’s been optimized for retina display (which is awesome) and works nicely, just like the PC version. However, it is limited in features compared to the phone app and here is why in my opinion: 1. Basic emoticons, no purchased or other custom variants 2. Only function is to chat, no other functions available such as voice talk, or editing profile 3. Also, I find it a little annoying to get a message from kakaotalk service on my phone everytime I login to my mac. It’s a great security feature, but there should be an option to disable it. I understand that it won’t be feature packed like the phone app because it is to compliment it, and not replace it. All in all, a great app but with room to improve in the coming updates.

Oh finally, I can stop using a cludgy Parallels Desktop solution to use this on my Mac! I am happy to be using this now. Please, please allow us to have a version to use KakaoTalk on our iPads (without needing a separate account) so that we can get our messages on all of our devices! Please, please, please! Maybe with Daum and Kaokao merging this will happen… hopefully at least improve rather than focussing on Samsung I hope! Thanks again!

FINALLY! Kakaotalk Mac ver. Met my expectations. :)

You guys gave the app out like a year too late, Line built a great app with great lock/unlock and protection methods Really, just learn a thing or two before you release an app way after its peak demand. Leaving kakao for this reason..

Other than being able to use my emoticons, the update made things worse performance-wise.

New features: * The update brings some customization options. You can now change your user name and profile picture. Well… thats it. But least you wont have to use your phone to change your picture anymore. * Another much-needed feature that this update brings is bookmark. When you open a chatroom, it will automatically bring you to last viewed message. So you will no longer have to scroll up to find where you left off. Still not fixed: - After leaving the app open for awhile (or after several minutes of inactivity), the app gets disconnected. Your friends new messages wont appear on the chatrooms, and your messages wont get posted either. This is the biggest annoyance with the KakaoTalk Mac app since I have to quit and reopen the app every time it gets disconnected. While the app is noticeably more stable with this update, there still is room for improments. Feature wish list: + Ability to add background picture. + Downloading new emoticons + Search function (specific words and date/time) + Adding new polls and schedules. + Ability to search and add new friends. Positives: + Notification works well. It shows the entire message, friends display name and the time when message was received. Overall, this is an excellent integration considering how buggy this app can get. + All the previous conversations appear in the chatrooms. + Doesnt use too much CPU or RAM + Can adjust opacity of chatroom windows. This is a very handy feature if you need the chatroom windows to float over other applications (for example, chatting with your friends while working on a document) + Can keep chatroom windows on top. + Can open multiple chatroom windows! This is definitely the biggest convenience feature that Mac app version of KakaoTalk offers + Sending files: As far as I can tell, uploading various files (mp3, midi, videos, PDF, word document, etc) works flawlessly. File size limit is 100mb (a 4-minute 480p video). However, some of my friends noted that they couldnt open the files I uploaded (especially video and music files). Maybe those files are not supported on their phones. + PopClip works within chatroom windows. This means tweeting, sharing on Facebook, looking up words, adding new schedule to calendar, emailing, searching on Wikipedia/YouTube/imdb/Google Map/, etc. is just a click away. + The luxury of talking to my KakaoTalk friends on my Mac. Cannot put a price on this. This alone grants this app 5 stars!

Unlike instant messaging apps which are limited to one device or one ecosystem, KakaoTalk is fantastic in that you can use it on multiple devices, e.g. I use it on my iPhone, my iMac, multiple PCs, and my iPad. :)

but still has unstable connection to the server. Also add voice talk support.

was excited to have a mac version of this app, but now im dissapointed, ive installed it a number of times, and it wont actually open.. really dissapointed, and wont be surprised if you guys take a long time to fix this issue.

It WAS working before, and now I cant even open it at all.

I am using everything the same including the network, and won’t let me log in maybe since a week ago. I even resinstalled right now, but still not working. I love Kakaotalk mac and please revive it! Thanks and keep it ad free please

Connection to server “failed” due to unstable network.. There isn’t a problem with the networks please fix the app

It always fails to send at first try!! It might be related to El Capitan, but after KakaoTalk has been in the background, I open it up again, and send a message. It always fails. Then I have to resend, and it works. So I now have to wait until it fails and then resend cause I know it will fail. So FREAKIN annoying!! Fix it please! EDIT: Now it keeps logging out on its own every few hours, and bounces on the dock letting me to re login or something. So annoying. And the above issues is still present. I have to wait a good minutes until the app connects after it’s been in the background, even though I’m connected to my Wifi already.
